As one of the four L-class destroyers equipped with a 4-inch dual-purpose turret, the HMS Lively is a dedicated air defense destroyer of the Royal Navy.

Active Started on December 20, 1938, launched on January 29, 1941, and served on July 20, 1941. The main task of the ship is air defense. At the same time, it is equipped with torpedoes and deep bombs for sea and anti-submarine attacks. After a brief stay in the local fleet, the Active was deployed to Gibraltar in September 1941 to escort the large British ships fighting there. On September 30, the Active was involved in the sinking of the Italian submarine Adua.

In October 1941, the Active joined the famous K fleet, which attacked the Italian fleet Duisburg Convoy on November 9, 1941. It sank seven transport ships and one destroyer. On November 24, it sank two German transport ships, and on December 1, it sank an Italian destroyer and a cargo ship. After participating in the Second Battle of Sirte, the Vitality was damaged in the battle, and was attacked by air after withdrawing from the battle. The injured Vitality arrived in Tobruk, sailed from Tobruk to Alexandria Port in April 1942, and completed the maintenance work thereon.

On May 11, 1942, on the way to Malta, the Fleet of Active was attacked by German JU-88 bombers. Due to serious damage, Active sank 160 kilometers northeast of Tobruk, killing 77 people.
