Nice video and heli. Great to find your channel. I bought your rc heli flying ebook probably about 10 years ago when I first got into rc. I’ve since moved into rc planes and eventually into flying the real ones which i still do. Never got into the 3D heli flying as I always loved the scale models that were more available back then. I’m now 52 and still fly small/micro rc helis every once in a while and after seeing this review and your other one of the esky Airwolf I had to buy both given how hard it is to find nice scale helis nowadays. I now teach some of the skills/drills I learned from your ebooks you my 10 year old so it was pretty cool to run into your videos on YT and see you’re still going strong. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the great education and tips found on your book!

Hi John, been binge watching your videos and might even buy your books as the videos have helped me alot so far! One thing I don't quite understand in opentx tho is, how can I setup the gyro to about 30-40% output for more of a scale like flying, but still have all the control over the heli myself? If its at +/- 100 doesn't that either fully activate/disable gyro? I don't want it to be totally aggressive.

Hi, I’ve got a XK K100 which I’m trying to get working on my FrSky Q7 with a multi protocol module. How do you set these up? I’ve bound the heli to the transmitter but the channels don’t map across properly. Just does what it wants. Only channel that responds as expected is the throttle and the rotor pitch (which I have on a 3 way switch).
stupid me i saw few videos of K124 fell in love with it and bought it. good lord it is so tough to get it off the ground and all these setting for newbie is complicated like hell. i almost put in my shelf as a show piece then one day i took courage to start playing around with the control setting and man i got the hang of it. now i am able to fly almost comfortably inside my house (small rooms) but yet not brave enough to get out. just wanted to tell folks who sell this after getting just be patient and keep going at it.

"Hi John, i have a 14 months old K124 and it has flown greatly over the period.

However recently i had few crashes due to tail motor blow out.

Swapped to a new tail motor, and with this one, after i spool up about half throttle just before took off, the tail motor kind of whined for a split second and kicked the tail to the left (heli nose turned to the right) and both motors will stop spinning.

If i cut down the throttle then spool again, the rotors will start spinning again.

What could be the problem? Is tail motor or faulty PCB board?

What is a good gyro setting for a beginner? Also what setting do I go into to stop my heli from slamming into the ground when I get into trouble and have to throttle down? Trying to learn on my XK 123...had to order another one lol a few hard landings on my roof

How do you find the range on the irx4. Have you done any firmware upgrades?
One good thing there's no bars on the main rotor its a single rotor helicopter I don't like like ones with bars on the propellers

"some thoughts. the comment about visibility is Significant. i had a heli with a red canopy. but i'm a bit colorblind. so i was always losing orientation. a small heli, especially, should be Bright. yellow/chartreuse/white. for the sake of color-blind pilots, red should Not be used. there is a continuing issue with all cp helis. the head speeds are Way too high.
until that changes, i will stay with fp helis. certain fbl cp or fp helis have Too much mass in the main rotor blades. the result is a Wonky, top-heavy dom. distribution of mass. cheers"

@John Salt What kind of your controller you used in this video? I really like it!
I think this heli is better than k110 even m1 for someone don't fly 3D. It's much easier to see the position in the air with the scale fuselage. Four blades provide more float in the air than 2 blades. The only problem is overheating if keep hovering for all the time. But if you just fly around like me, this won't be an issues. It takes the heli less for flying forward than hovering. You can fly one battery right after another one.

I have several 2.4 gigahertz transmitters that came with other helicopters. Wondering if just helicopter is also 2.4 gigahertz on the bind and fly.

"Hi! I recently bought an xk k124 helicopter rtf and I can't get it to enter in 6g calibration mode/ 6g flight debugging mode(as per manual) ?! When I pull both sticks of the transmitter all the way to the bottom position and hold them there, as I read in the manual and as I watched in online videos, nothing happens. I tried all the settings I could think of : in 6g, 3g, even 3d mode; with dual rates high and low, with different values for the dual rates - under, to 100% and above, with different throttle curbs,I have factory reset the transmitter, I have rebind the heli to the transmitter etc, nothing happens.
Can you get yours to enter 6g calibration mode?
