I have watched the movie Avatar many times. Being a helicopter pilot I was intrigued by the helis in the movie and the way they were flown. When I saw the ad from HeliPal.com for the Attop YD711 Avatar Heli, you know I had to have one. The Cons: I cannot feel totally comfortable with it because it is in Mode 1 and as a heli pilot, I must constantly think each control movement thru . When I find myself in trouble, panic strikes and inadvertently I go back to the Mode 2 heli mode and then have a heck of a time recovering. If I can figure out how to change the TX, I will make it known. Pros: It is nicely built, strong, very cool to look at, and fun to fly too.

Hi Dave, nice review. From your video description, it looks like its a MODE 4 and not a MODE 1. I fly mode one and the throttle + Aileron is on the right stick. I also notice that you have HK Board (for your quadcopter?), you might want to try to build an Avatar Gunship by using the dualcopter mode on that. Looks way cooler without the counter rotating props per shaft. Lots of videos on that around youtube. All the best.

Hello Dave.....if you have flown mode 2 for a long time its hard to change huh.....its all ok till you get in to trouble then your mind reverts back to mode 2...lol I know because I have a bag of bits to prove it.....great vids as always....keep flying

The board has 2 pots per gimbal, hmm, would've been easy with wired pots. What's the betting the controller chip has pads to swap controls over ?! Is there a number on that chip we see at 07:00 to gain a datasheet ? Many of the 27MHz used the same chips, so ya never know :)"

That's strange, I've enquired HeliPal for a Mode 1 YD 711, and their answer was: "Sorry, this model only have mode 2." ?!?

Hi Dave Looks Nice But Would Look Even Better If The Rotors Were In Side The Ducts,There You Go A New mod For you To Do.And The Mode 1 To Mode 2.
"your TX is mode 4, mode 1 TX have the throttle on the right, not left side.

I'm sure you can change the TX from mode 4 to mode 2 with somesort of switch/jumper.
Their bad manual is the only way to figure out how to change it"
