Online social commentary (media commentary):

* DJI Phantom lights, "FAA Style" See the insides, the light mods, blade balancing tips, and a night flight to test. With left and right (red and green) flying lights burned into my memory from years of night flying, it was imperative for me to change the lights to FAA style so I could fly it comfortably. Here is how I did it. I hope you enjoy this.

Please watch this video and the others posted on the Atlanta Hobby Headquarters or the DJI home page. This is an excellent flying quad with homing pigeon features. It works very good and I rate it with high marks, especially after changing the lights..

Thanks kindly for watching folks and please take a moment to subscribe. Stay tuned for more RC Television shows and Thanks kindly for all your support.

Best Regards, Dave Herbert Academy of Model Aeronautics # 8221 Contest Director, Leader Member, Scientific division.

Hey Dave. Thats a great mod. I put aviation style lights on my DJI F450 frame. It's so much easier to fly at night. Thanks for the video.
I love flying at night. I also find it is a lot easier than flying on a sunny day. Thanks for the vid.
Dave, thanks for these instructional and fun videos.
Thanks for a brilliant video, I can?t wait for the winter so I can start flying my Phantom in the dark! being in Iceland I?ve got 24 hour daylight during the summer :)
"Dear Mr. Herbert, nice job! Thank you for the DJi Phantom ""FAA STYLE"" QuadRotor Mods. Very much appreciated! Cheers! :-)

P.S. I would truly love to see your DJi Phantom in action again. (along with they GPS Homing Pigeon Technology) Thank you!"
I've been looking forward you you opening up the phantom, I bought a compass module for mine but couldn't find where it plugs in. I'll now take another look at the GPS receiver at the top. Thanks for a great video Dave.
keep up the good work I love how u mod this rc planes and helicopters
"Dave: ""Not only were your instructions clear, but the photos were, in my opinion,
Super-HD, and almost 3D. Great job, and keep up the good work! > RKTMAN"
I've been involved in night flying for almost 4 years and FAA style light does help in orientation i have to agree with that. Peoples watching can enjoy the flight as well. I do agree a flying christmas tree are fun to see but doing no much help in orientation for night flying. We have a a group of night flyers which commit themselve every friday night. I have a couple of our night flying videos @ my channel.
I love your dedication to rc
BTW dave, the amber light flashing 4 times means the IMU is not warmed up and 100% ready, it will still fly, just not as good :) I love my phantom, it so great to see you flying one too.
Great info and video as usual Mr H
You were right about the Avatar controls being hard to use for a heli pilot. hope you post how to correct it soon.
You should get / fly the micro MIG 15 mine is very fun to fly. Btw cool vid :)
"I?m also getting confused with the lights. Im a sailor, and dont understand the purpuse , I have to change mine too, thinking about just to solder the led for changing the collors.
and maby mounting a tail with blink for flying by night.
Thanks for a great Vid.
cu up there, and you know where im heading."
Good Mod on the marker lights. Maybe DJI will make changes on there next generation of the Phantom. Have you tried any larger size LiPo to extend the flight times ? Tom
Not a sailor, or Pilot, but was confused by the lights. I was thinking of Green on front & red on back, more like a Car setup, but I'm rethinking now, come to think about it. Makes more sense your way. Great Video's Thx.
What mic do you use to VO these videos ??
"Fair enough. Thank you for keeping the language clean. The question is not
if we have a right to express ourselves, but if our rights contribute
something useful to the conversation. You have a good day, Sir."
hi all.. maybe DJI could use a multi color led for the nite lights .... oh wait that is next years model upgrade haha : )
