the next video has the correction I made to fire correctly https://youtu.be/vR2CMf82lI8
"Andy, nice job, I always like seeing your skills. One note, as a former crewmember on several M-551 Sheridans, the piece of ""glass"" on the front of the hull is actually a part of the floatations surfboard. You may want to paint the backside of it the same color as the remainder of the vehicle. The surfboard was plywood and was often splintered quite a bit, and along the sides and back edges, should be black for the covers over the floatations screen, that was black rubber. You can catch all that when weathering it.

One othe note, we almost never fired the main gun off the side, the recoil was brutal. Over the front it actually could lift the front roadwheells! The shillelagh missile did not do this.

Looking forward to getting and building one of my own to look like my last full up Sheridan circa 1978 in the 11th ACR in the Fulda Gap germany
" I drove one of these in 2nd plt, K Troop, 3/11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in 1970-1971 Thank you for this wonderful build. When the gun was fired, the whole front end came off the ground.
I¡¯d love to see a 1/16 scale M901 ITV with RC components as well! I see there¡¯s a lot of former Sheridan crewmen leaving great comments on here. I was an 11H from 1983-2009 so I saw a lot of the vehicles from that era including the Sheridan, we looked at it as a ¡°sports car¡± version of a tank. Scouts always get the cool stuff, lol.
Awesome build, as always! I've always wanted to build one of these ever since I saw the first Tamiya 1/16 RC tanks more than 30 years ago. I've never been able to afford any of these, though. But I'm glad that you have put a nice video about building one. Thanks for sharing, Andy. I hope one day I'll have the honor to meet you in person. Cheers!
Hey Andy, when Tamiya send you the "good stuff" you know that you are doing something right.
This was fun to watch thank you! My quibble is that the "recoil" when the tank fires 33:16 should rock the vehicle backwards not forwards ??
Thank you Andy, great video. Have visited your shop in Glendale Arizona on a several occasions, and have bought kits, paint, tools etc. from you. Very interesting to see that Tamiya has simplified their 1/16 RC tank kits, for the better. Built Tamiya's 1/16 German Leopard tank a few years ago, and oh my goodness was that complicated. It took me weeks! Kit had 23 different types of screws, probably 150 in total. Seemed like needless complexity. Once complete, the Leopard is an amazing RC model, but gosh was it work.
Thanks for building this Andy! Ive been looking at some of the WW2 kits for a long time but haven't pulled the trigger on them because I havent seen one running. But from what i see from yours, i won't be dissapointed
Thanks so much. I always wondered about building an RC kit, this removed a lot of the mystery, and made it less intimidating. It looks like you we¡¯re having a blast at the end!
Andy...Andy you should always turn the transmitter on first. That prevents a runaway tank unless they've engineered that problem out.
This was a really good video, I enjoyed it, something different then the usual plastic model builds (which are still excellent)
Awesome build Andy! You bring joy and fun to the hobby!! Keep up the good work and keep cool in Arizona! ????????
i want to build one of these r/c kits since it combines two of my loves: model tanks and r/c, but the price of admission is too high for me. Maybe someday Tamiya will do a T55 kit and ill finally have to give in. Keep doing what you're doing Andy. Some of us are living vicariously through your builds
love the Tamiya 1/16th FO kits. really fun builds .
Andy you have done a fantastic job with this rc kit not only does it sound good but it looks awesome tamiya have nailed this one Steve ????
Andy, It looks like you had loads of fun buiding and operating your Sheridan, to bad the M1 Abrams wasn't RC too.
When I was stationed on border-site in German, I'd ride my motorcycle to visit Bad Herzfeld. I'd see these tanks on patrol near the border. Knowing what was awaiting them on the other side, I didn't envy the Sheridan crews at all.
My parents bought me the Tamiya King Tiger 1/16 about 30 years or so ago, that was brilliant and huge, didn't have a sound unit, had a strobe to simulate gun flashes, turret rotated but that was about it.
