4-Ch Fixed Pitch RC Helicopter Tutorial Guide (Complete). RC Helicopters | Radio Control Scale Models, RC Helicopters For Sale | Buy Remote Control Helicopter
Here's the guide for all you beginners. This comprehensive guide will get you started on becoming a better pilot using a 4-channel fixed pitch helicopter. Available at http://www.xheli.com
very informative, I just bought one of these and have been having trouble
hovering. Is much more stable now, thanks.
i found this video to be very helpful and informative!! i crashed mine, and i
need to replace everything from the rotor bearings on up. except for the main
rotor blades. thank you! i recently bought an E Sky Honey Bee 4 channel
helicopter, and it's been giving me fits.
Coaxial is the use of 4 fixed pitch blades (two top, two bottom) spinning in a
counter rotation. This usually yields better stability, while fixed pitch is the
use of 2 blades and can maneuver better than a coaxial. I recommend you check
out the madhawk
I just got a job at a local hobby shop about a month ago. I started with a 3
channel gyroscope helicopter, and then i recently bought a WL v911 Micro 4
channel heli and it is awesome. Great video. Very informative and helpful.
You can't go wrong with both, but I recommend the Falcon since it seems more
durable even after a few crashes. I strongly recommend a training kit since Fix
Pitch helis tend to be more difficult to fly
I tried learning to fly helis with a Walkera 22E (6 channel, 3D-capable), and it
didn't go well (managed to break the linkage between the flybar and the main
blades). I've since had a lot of success flying 3-channel coaxial helis and I'm
looking to go back to the Walkera. I have a small question about proper
helicopters with a swashplate (see next comment)...
@killa1mantis Hi Killa1mantis, make sure the throttle trim is down, along with
the throttle stick. Many hobbyists during their beginning stages with the heli
has this problem, feel free to discuss, share and check out our forum at
rcdiscuss . com for more assistance. Hope the information helps and if anything,
call our tech support for further assistance.
Also, very nice that you put all parts into one episode, again thanks
@neuregel I also agree that live help is great, however, a lot of our hobbyists
also understands that a cost always comes with it, that's why Xheli strive to
make many great tutorials for our great hobbyists like you =), also, Xheli
provides service from emails, forums, phone lines, live chat to assist our
customers. Right now, we're also offering Free Shipping for everything on
HobbypartZ. com for spare parts bc our goal is to help our customers save the
most money always! -cn
I recommend that you get something like a Madhawk, but the Esky Lama v4 is a
great choice as well.
"Yes xheli sells tons of mini 4-channel helicopters for indoor flight and even
6-channel.
I would recommend a Single though if you want to jump right in after having some
experience with a flight sim because once you hit 6 channels and want to go
3D... it'll be a whole different story to try even fly the helicopter due to
their difference."
@trkchamp2050 Thanks for the inquiry, Trkchamp2050. Have you tried contacting
our tech support? It sounds like there are some installation problems going on.
Please also check out our forum at RCDiscuss. com where many of our hobbyists
share their experience and advice on the product. Hope the information helped.
Man you have improved my flying so much
switch the main motors plug with the tail motors plug. Make sure they're both
attached and carefully give the heli throttle. If the tail motor spins then most
likely its the receivers problem. If it does not spin up then most likely its
the motor. Give our tech support a call or visit Rcdiscuss . com for more helip
I love rules and safety at 3:40; my favorite part.
"The flybar keeps it from rapidly changing its orientation, but can't level it.
The flybars with paddles actually amplify the servos. The servos change the
pitch of the paddles and they then catch air and move the pitch of the main
rotors."
"they dont hover neutral (esp close to ground) because they have to counteract
the force from the tail rotor. when tail in, helis will move to left, so you
have to give right cyclic, which makes it lean right
you soon learn to do it automatically"
"My question is, if you move the right stick forwards (to give it forwards
cyclic), hold it there for a second, then let the stick go back to the centre,
does the helicopter automatically level off after a while? Or does it maintain
its nose-down attitude and continue accelerating even though you're not giving
it forwards cyclic anymore?
If you roll it say 30 degrees with for example left cyclic, does it get back to
horzontal on its own eventually, or do you have to give it right cyclic?"
You got some cool and helpful vids =) Make more!
I see. So does increasing the pitch of the flybar paddles make it more
responsive?
@r1ccardo 3.5 channel helis do not really have an extra channel but they have a
"hover" function. I've never heard of a 5 channel heli, but I have heard of 5
channel planes which have retractable landing gear. Hope this helps!
I recommend starting with a Coaxial before moving on to a Fixed Pitch
I'm aware of that... 3 channel helicopters are fun, 4-channel helicopters are
fun, stable and can move sideways (a feature that is sorely lacking in 3-channel
helicopters). 5-channel and above helicopters are incredibly challenging and not
really my idea of fun! I fixed the walkera's linkage, but the POS doesn't have
enough power to take off with the stock battery and motor. It put me off
helicopters for good and now I'm instead investing in my 1:10 Tamiya tt-01
electric car.
very good video. It was very helpful.
Just got a S107 from you guys and I think I already want to go bigger! Would you
reco the Falcon 2.0 or the Honeybee 2.0 as a first out door heli?
I just bought the V911 from you guys, I can't wait to get it. What would you
recommend for the next level up?
"No, because the two paddles work together, one pushing up and one down. The
neutral position is for them to be level. Pitch would actually reduce their
maximum levering force.
Also, paddle pitch would cause them to produce lift all the time, and it would
unbalance the load between the paddles. Both changes could cause the mechanism
to jam.
I should say that I've never owned one. I'm just going on my understanding of
how it works mechanically and aerodynamically."
Absolutely brilliant
Great tutorial, one tip, turn off Auto White balance on your camera :)
"Hello.
If I want to upgrade from an cx heli to a fp heli, should I get the falcon 40 or
the honey bee?
Thank you so much"
"They are practically the same thing.
Advantage to the Falcon 40 is that the skids seem to be a little stronger, as
well as the linkages on the flybar/swashplate seem to be stronger. The
swashplate and center hub themselves seem to break less.
Advantage to the Honey Bee FP is that the electronics are a little better.
There's also more parts (OEM and upgrades) widely available."
@xhelicopter. whats the diffrence between coaxial and fixed pitch. got syma
alloy shark and can fly it around house no problem but looking for a better heli
but not bothered about 6ch which heli would you recommend. would like the choice
between 2. please help.
Can we have the same output with 550 brushed motors?
No problem, glad you like it
@SuperNicholas50 Fixed pitch means the rotor blades are linked together and
their pitch cannot be adjusted individually. The alternative is collective
pitch, wihch allows the pitch of each rotor to be adjusted independently.
get a e-flite msr. very durable and easy to fly for a fixed pitch heli. Also a
blast to fly
@killa1mantis Not a problem, Killa1mantis! Please refer to our xheli . com
website and all of our information will be under 'Contacts.' We will be more
than happy to help you get your heli up and running.
You can install a brushless motor on it, but you need new batteries and the esc
to support it.
@metal4ever1965 if you already have skills at flying rc heli, then a madhawk 300
would be appropriate to fly outdoors without wind of course
thanks xhelli 4 the quick reply, ok , i do have all the trim set at 50 ecept the
throttle its at 0 percent, because this falcon v2 came with the lcd radio.
another thing i noticed is when im holding it and turn it on the blades are
rotating in a cirlcle motion, not the spinning of the blades. but can u give me
the tech support number, thanks xheli
can someone explain to me the difference between a fixed pitch heli and a co
axial one
when you get your heli you have to trim it first
Bummer, I was enjoying the stability of my 3 channel coaxial! By four channel I
meant a coaxial where the top blade has a flybar for stability, and the bottom
blade has a swashplate for moving the heli forwards or sideways. So it's stable
and yet does everything a conventional heli does except fly upside-down because
of its fixed pitch... But the nice thing about cars is how durable they are.
There's a video on youtube where they destroy an rc heli using an rc car and a
ramp lol!
"got a heli with 40 min charge time
perfect vid"
THIS WAS A GREAT TUTORIAL GUIDE, I BOUGHT THE NEW FALCON 40 WITH THE YELLOW
CANOPY AND YOU SAY IT IS NORMAL FOR THE HELI TO GO LEFT ON TAKING OFF, BUT MINE
GOES RIGHT AND BACKWARDS, IS THAT NORMAL
@killa1mantis Not a problem, Killa1mantis! We are always here to help our
customers. Nitroplanes is an excellent company as well =) Let us know if you
need any further assistance on any inquiries you have. Have a great one,
Killa1Mantis!
@rjsmith508 It sure is ready to fly, Rjsmoith508! Thanks for the inquiry!
well it was doing that from the start. what I realised afterwords was that I
needed to ajust the tail rotor so that it would be at a 90 degree angle, I think
it fixed it tho I can't really be sure since firght after I didn't that I tested
it out and forgot that the trim was all the way to the left to composate for the
leaning of earlier and my heli just flew out and crashed into a chair, shatering
the main blades, twisting the fethering blades and idk about the condition of
the main shaft yet
i have a 4 channel electric rc helicopter by twister and every time i go to take
it off it shakes badly and then is uncontrollable when you get it up, does
anyone know the cause for this also because of the shalking and being
uncontrollable my blades are always being broking HELP. thanks.
oh, OK. Thanks for the info... maybe I will try buying another helicopter one
day. Right now I'm waiting for my new 4-channel coaxial helicopter to arrive in
the post!
I just bought a used Falcon 40 (not the v2) from someone off of craigslist for
$40. I got a new canopy for $5 and I ordered a new battery for about $12 (his
battery was no good) I've painted the tips of the blades, and balanced the
blades like your showed in your video. I'd also like to get some tiny screws so
I don't lose any bearings when I crash. I had seen your video before, but i
watched it again tonight when i got my very own falcon 40 :) I can't wait til my
battery comes so i can fly!
@mikejuliestl Awesome! :D Check out the Madhawk, Big Lama, and Honeybee is great
also! :D -cn
could you install a brushless motor on that heli, or are brushed motors my only
option ?
thank you realy thank you for this tutorial beacause i am adbout to get a
helicopter like this
Xheli is a awesome helicopter site.
alright so I just got my Falcon 40 V2, and it would always tilt on the right for
some reason, even after I ajusted my trims for a good 45 minutes, its my first
single rotor heli maybe I'm doing something wrong. could it do that if by any
chance I broke my receiver or would it just shut down ?
cheap too... about €22 from Ebay if you get a cheapo made-in-china version :),
but a high quality one like the Blade mCx is about €95.
"@moron32 So I got my new battery and the heli (seems) to be ok! :D I took off
the little weights from the flybar. But forgot which angle the flybar paddles
should be! Is it relevant so long as they are identical?
Also....my heli spins like mad to the left, i cant even get liftoff. The more
throttle i give, the more spin i get. I've adjusted the 'trim' sliders on the
transmitter but they dont seem to affect a thing :( Can you help me?"
i like your video :)
i have a question, i recently bought a tail rotor and gear for mine, and now it
wont take off the ground. all the parts spin, but it seems to not be spinning
fast enough to take off. i haven't flown it in quite some time but still, all
the parts are working fine. my fly bar might be unlevel, but it should still
take off in the air correct? plz help, i push the throttle to the max, and it
just moves slowly on the ground, have already spent alot replacing parts
I would strongly suggest newer pilots to purchase heli's from local hobby shops.
This is an awesome great tutorial even I learned something, but cant compensate
for real live help from a good hobby shop. Plus different hobby shops carry
different heli's and they will have spare parts in stock. you dont want to buy a
heli online than have to keep buying parts for it online as well. just a
thought.
i have a problem... why does my rc always go round and round? cool complete tuts
I have an e-Sky Helicopter 2.4 ghz then I have a working LP5DSM 5 CHANNEL 2.4
ghz by E-Flite radio . my question with the Heli Bind with this[ non Esky radio
] or do you have to use the same manufacturer radio to the heli ?
@pjerry72 Hey Pjerry72! Don't let that disappoint you. We all understand that it
is more expensive at local hobby shops. Check this one out, I personally
searched for the perfect 4ch heli for you that is under $100 and it also has
spare parts (free shipping for hobbypartz. com right now too!) Go to XHELI. com
and search for this item number: ExceedHeli_Falcon40_Gray. Hope that helped
Pjerry72! Remember, I'll always be here if you have any inquiries! -cn
Hope I'm not re-asking a question. Is the Falcon 40 the same as an EF Sabre? The
tx looks the same as does the flight model. I have a couple Sabre's that I'm
wanting to bring back to life. I re-cut my teeth with a V911 and I have got my
coordination down with the helo flying forward back at me. Can I buy, use, and
find Falcon parts more readily?
"Hi, make sure your swash plate is leveled or not separated. Also, double check
your fly-bar paddles and make sure they are straight and not off. Those two
problems can sometimes cause the helicopter to not hover straight.
-Teddy from rcdiscuss . com"
HEY YOU SHOULD MAKE A VIDEO ON THE FALCON 40 ..4 CHAN REMOTE SETTING UP THE
CONTROLLER OR AT LEAST SHOW HOW TO RESET IT I ACCIDENTLY MESSED UP THE SETTINGS
ON MINE YOU SHOULD SHOW HOW TO FIX THAT ...THANKS
"Heres my set up and is this going to work?
Kit: HK 250 GT
Motor: FF 200 OUTRUNNER 5000KV
Gyro:ASSAN GA250AVCS GYRO
Esc: HK SS SERIES 25-30A ESC
Battery: TURNIGY 800MAH 2S 20C LIPO PACK
Servos: TURNIGY TG9E 9G"
my Falcon always flips forward when I try to take off.
You are the guy in the vid? Yeah I was saying the smartass thing on purpose. But
seriously, I enjoyed the vid. I'm a newbie when it comes to rc helis, this vid
really helped me grasp the concept a lot more. I just got hovering down. I have
a 4#3b dual brushless. Its my first one, it is definitely a steep learning curve
but is so fun.
The HBCP 2 is a horrible heli to start on, (The Falcon ain't much better) The
ESky HoneyBee FP V2 is the best heli to learn on. Alot stronger then the
HBCP2/3, alot easier to set-up and cheaper to repair.
is the training gear good for on water
oh ok, lol...you were talking as if you were him...haha...I almost just counted
for 10 minutes, then was gonna multiply it but I figured I'd stick to it and get
the actual. If I had guessed, I would of been close, 150 compared to the actual
142...;)
hi i have a heli its tail motor when i start to fly it will seams to starts to
weaken and heat or is it because of the broken tail rotor
sorry to be a buzzkill but the port you mentioned at 147 is not a parallel port
its actually a serial (you were correct on the part that most computers don't
have a serial onboard port but on many motherboards there is a header which you
can plug a serial port into). parallel ports are wait longer at the connection
and are usually coloured purple :) mainly used for older style printers. once
again sorry to be a nerd :P
Np, post up videos once you get it :)
wher can i buy parts for them i broke all 4 blades
was goign down to the hobby shop tomorrow was looking to spend 150 at most for a
good 4chan heli after all the things you mentioned sounds pretty expencive idk
if i want to get my self into it now lol
@juroxzg3 Hey George! No problem, be sure to check your inbox, we just sent you
a message! -cn
its a vga port aswell
you have to bring it back yourself, the helicopter wont do it for you.
also is most of the bodys on 4 channel rc helicopters thin an easy to break like
on this one or thick and rugid
@xhelicopter exceed rc madhawk 300 or walkera cb-180q?
27:40 bottom line just bye two helicopters that are the same!!!
hey buddy, the model i have the top looks nothing like that? how do i go about
blanching the wings?
I just bought me a Falcon today. I have a 6 Channel Honey Bee King 3 but I am
afraid to fly it because I dont know what I am doing. I'm hoping to learn on
this Falcon but I don't know..
cool but very long
can you tell me how? mine is rc battery only and it worth 2,000+ pesos
Hey, i have a syma s107 and the back blade came out with the wires after a
crash. do you know anyway of fixing this problem because i dont want to just put
it back in and it not work? thanks
hehe I recieved my Lama 2 today with metal headset extra set of blades 3 3.7V
400mAh batterys and 3 3.7V 600mAh batterys today :)
the port is called vga
all i know is this helicopter manufacturer should employ you to tweek their
design
i acsidently hurt my brothers nose with a mini rc one but hes okay
I liked your tutorial of these 4 channel heli's. I've watched this video several
times over now and realized you say "ahh" a lot. lol...not trying to be a
smartass or anything but I counted your "ahh's" and it got 142 for the entire
39:25 vid. LOL...
@TheCrazy135 They bought flies about the same in my opinion.
Isn't that the point of having a flybar?
i bought a cb100 . didnt practice like i should of . but i flew it like i knew
how . until, (haha) i decided to go around a tree . little did i know about
branches. well i crashed, hard! bent the main shaft , broke the tail boom and
rear rudder . now i have no tools and no idea how to fix it . no hobbie stores
around here. what should i do . i contacted xheli , but its saterday hahahah .
anyway . this a fun hobby . im glad i got into it . hopefully i can fly before
xmas .
its a walkera 4# clone!!
